It’s been a month since the earthquake, but the aftershocks keep coming. We’re still reading about lessons learned about road and building construction. Communications professionals also learned a few lessons. January’s Alaska Chapter PRSA Luncheon features Kristin DeSmith, Mayor Berkowitz’s Communications Manager, and Josh Franks, Chief of Staff for Cook Inlet Tribal Council. They will talk about their organization’s communications after November’s earthquake and share tips for preparing for the next one.

The program will be January 23, 2019 at noon at the Midtown Crowne Plaza Hotel, 109 West International Airport Road.

Kristin DeSmith is Communications Director for Anchorage Mayor Ethan Berkowitz. Prior to joining the Mayor’s staff in October 2017, DeSmith was Assistant Vice Chancellor for University Relations at the University of Alaska Anchorage for nearly 11 years.

Joshua Franks is the Chief of Staff at Cook Inlet Tribal Council, Inc. (CITC). In his role at CITC, he is a strategic partner whose primary role is to enable the President/CEO to work most effectively with internal and external stakeholders.  Prior to joining CITC in June 2018, Joshua had a 20-year career with Southcentral Foundation.
