Vivian Hamilton Professional Promise Award
The Vivian Hamilton Professional Promise Award recognizes an outstanding young active chapter member.
Candidates must have five years or less experience in the profession and exhibit outstanding promise for career growth and Chapter leadership. Candidates may either be nominated by other chapter members or self-nominate. There is no fee to nominate an individual for this award.
Award criteria:
- The nominee has demonstrated his or her dedication to advancing himself or herself in the field of public relations.
- The nominee has worked toward becoming an active chapter member and eventually filling a leadership role on committees or elected positions.
- The nominee should have demonstrated the award criteria in the past year (up to present) in which they are being nominated for the award.
Nominators must submit the following:
- Summary of qualifications – This should include a summary of professional accomplishments and goals, no longer than two typed pages. The summary shall include specific examples of success (problem, solution and outcome).
- One-page resume – If a resume is not available please create a work history to the best of your ability.
- Two letters of support – Each letter must be from active members of the chapter who support the nomination. The letters of support must be from individuals separate from the nominator. Each letter must be on letterhead and be no longer than 500 words. The letters should specifically address award criteria and provide details of success (problem, solution and outcome). The letters must be on letterhead and the body can be no longer than 500 words.
(Please note: no more than two letters of recommendation will be considered.)
No other information shall be considered. Any information sent that exceeds word counts, or is outside the above requirements will not be considered.
Judging panel considerations:
The award judging panel will consider the following. It is highly recommended to include specific examples of this information in your nomination and/or letters of support.
- Is the nominee new to the profession, recently graduated or changed careers into the PR/communications profession within the past five years?
- Has the nominee participated in or attended chapter meetings, workshops or professional development events either in person or online?
- Has the nominee contributed to the chapter through volunteer activities? How has this involvement helped the chapter or the nominee grow and improve?
- Has the nominee expressed interest in chapter leadership or is in line for a future role? Is the nominee actively preparing for leadership?
The judging panel includes at least three judges selected from past chapter presidents, with a minimum of two holding APR accreditation.
