Member Spotlight: Heather Marron

Meet Heather Marron, corporate communications manager for Alaska Communications, a statewide internet and voice services provider and the technology sponsor for PRSA Alaska Chapter monthly professional development programs. This Alaska-grown talent is passionate about employee communications, as well as supporting the chapter through wide-ranging volunteer roles. She’s currently the PRSA Alaska board secretary.

Job Responsibilities:

Primarily responsible for employee communication and community relations, Heather also assists with social media, media relations, and other PR functions. “I am most passionate about employee communication,” said Heather. “Employees are an organization’s most important audience. They are our biggest brand ambassadors and deserve clear, consistent, effective communications.”

“I’m an introvert so I love copy writing,” she added.

Education: Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with an emphasis in marketing and management, from the University of Alaska Anchorage (2009)

How does membership in PRSA assist you?

This month, Heather marks 11 years as a PRSA member. This includes membership in our local Alaska Chapter and in the PRSA Employee Communications Section.

“PRSA has been instrumental in my development and career progression. I can confidently say I would not be where I am today without the relationships formed through PRSA and the development programs it provides us at the local, section and national level,” said Heather.

PRSA Alaska Volunteering

Over the years, she’s volunteer in a remarkable range of PRSA Alaska Chapter volunteer roles, most recently as board member and current service as the board secretary.

She’s also chaired or co-chaired the chapter’s publicity, programming and awards committees, and participated as a member of the publicity and awards committees.
