Keynote Speakers

Our keynote for August 5 is Rob Biesenbach, a corporate communications consultant, author, actor and professional speaker. Most recently, he spoke at PRSA’s International Conference in Washington, D.C. Rob combines insights from 25 years in the corporate world with the performance skills gained in his second career as a stage and commercial actor. His books and workshops help people communicate more successfully in the workplace, the marketplace and in their everyday interactions. Rob tackles the following: What exactly goes into a good story? And how can you find, shape and tell powerful stories that will win hearts and change minds? This engaging, informative keynote session unlocks the secrets of storytelling to help you: • Strengthen your clients’ programming • Build trust with your (and your clients’) target audiences • Network more effectively • Win business and gain approval of your programs and budgets • Get more of what you want out of life and work Our keynote for August 6 is award-winning NBC television journalist and renowned storyteller Bob Dotson. Bob has been crisscrossing America, four million miles, practically non-stop, for forty years, searching for people who are practically invisible, the ones who change our lives, but don’t take time to tweet and tell us about it. Dotson’s long running series, “The American Story with Bob Dotson,” is a regular feature on NBC, one of the National Television Networks in the United States. His third book American Story, a Lifetime Search for Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things became a New York Times Best Seller. His literary works have won the Christopher Award for outstanding non-fiction in 2014 and the George Washington Honor Medal for excellence. He has also received more than 100 awards for his work in broadcast journalism, including eight National Emmys and eleven nominations. Bob will speak to CommEx about the importance of good storytelling and how to find stories where you least expect them. Also on August 6, Beki Winchel a co-editor with PR Daily will present Storytelling and the new consumer audience: Lessons from witches, wizards, vampires and the girl on fire.

PR pros need to learn how to navigate the increasingly complex landscape of social media while also getting their clients’ and brands’ voices heard over all the noise online. Lessons from storytelling lexicons like Harry Potter, Twilight, Hunger Games and more can show PR pros not only how to find and relate to a company’s most passionate influencers, but also create engaging content, launch successful social media contest and campaigns, build relationships that lead to brand buzz and avoid crisis situations on Twitter, Facebook and other social platforms.
